5. GRANTOWN ON SPEY

Grantown Grammar School will be hosting a Mountain Bike Guided ride from Grantown on Spey to into “the Hub” at Aviemore for children aged 14 and over along the Speyside Way.

6. KINCRAIG
PRE REGISTER: Fiona Finnie our Mountain Bike Guide will be marshalling an off road marshalled ride for women only along the beautiful local trails from Kincraig to Aviemore in the morning then an afternoon ride from Loch Morlich to Aviemore

Kincraig Post Office Café to Aviemore, 9am

A non-technical mountain bike ride, specifically for women, led by Fiona from Elevate MTB. Starting at the fantastic Old Post Office Café in Kincraig, we’ll ride to the event hub in Aviemore, following scenic off-road cycle paths and forest tracks. There are short, flat sections of singletrack with some roots and rocks, which are optional to ride. We’ll ride as a group, at a sociable pace, taking in the sights of Feshiebrige and Loch an Eilein along the way. The ride is expected to take around 2.5 hours.

Loch Morlich circuit from Aviemore, 1pm

An easy, non-technical mountain bike ride, specifically for women, led by Fiona from Elevate MTB. We’ll meet at the event hub in Aviemore, where you and your bike will be transported by the new Stagecoach Adventure bus, to the Hayfield in Glenmore. We’ll then ride back to Aviemore along some of the most scenic paths in the Cairngorms, passing Loch Morlich, Loch an Eilein and Lochan Mor along the way. The route is mostly flat and we’ll be riding off-road cycle paths and wide forest tracks. The ride is expected to take around 2 hours.

7. LAGGAN WOLFTRAX
The team at Wolftrax are offering a free children’s taster morning session with a mountain bike coach along their superb easy Wolf Cub Green mountain bike trail and in the afternoon the trail will be open to everyone free of charge.

Morning 10-12:30:
There will be a skills development session focused on beginners that want to acquire the skills to ride the green trail. Participants will need to be able to ride a bike with confidence and have their own bike and helmet. Bikes can be hired in advance. The minimum age to take part is 8 years old.

Afternoon 1pm & 2.30pm: Come and Ride the Green trail with a coach, In the afternoon we will run 2 guided rides of the green trail.

Laggan Woftrax is located in the Strathmashie forest near Laggan. The Laggan Forest Trust is a community-run organisation with charitable status, and runs the Laggan Wolftrax Visitor Centre, opened in April 2015 with the support of the Cairngorm National Park Authority and Forestry and Land Scotland to provide permanent facilities for the established mountain biking trails

ABOUT THE EVENT

SATELLITES IN THE SPEY VALLEY: "THE SPOKES"

Marshalled cycle rides from satellite locations to event hub at Aviemore along marked existing off-road routes to show how possible, safe, and enjoyable it is (Sustrans Route 7, Speyside Way, Dava Way, Speyside Way) from Carrbridge, Boat of Garten, Grantown on Spey, Badaguish, Nethy Bridge.

Each satellite town / village will have its own bike leader for the route

The event Hub will be linked to surrounding Spey Valley village satellite events “The Spokes” to showcase & promote the existing facilities in the area to appeal to very wide and new audience.

All of the ride in will be offered a free return bus service from “where to today” for riders too tired to do the return journey.

1. NETHY BRIDGE
Phil and Jac are delighted to be leading 2 different rides from Lazy Duck to the Cairngorms Cycle Festival Hub. Lazy Duck is nestled in the peaceful village of Nethybridge just 20 minutes from Aviemore Lazy Duck offers luxurious and environmentally considerate accommodation for couples and small groups/families along with well being therapies, hot tub and sauna.

Ryvoan Pass and Loggers: An adventure ride of 27km that is the perfect introduction to wilderness riding. When it goes up, it goes up gradually (to Ryvoan Bothy) and when it goes down (all the way to Aviemore) it is an absolute hoot! Vast wilderness vistas, a fairytale loch and some of the most fun singletrack about. This ride does require moderate fitness and a bicycle capable of riding on rough ground. A mountain bike ideally but a gravel or cyclocross bike will be fine.

Speyside Way via Boat of Garten: A fun ride of 20km, taking you along one of the most wonderfully varied and fun sections of the Speyside Way. Stopping briefly at Boat of Garten to play on its new pump track, the ride carries on into Aviemore on car-free, blissfully flowing trails. Mostly flat, this route is suitable for anyone with moderate fitness and would be possible on a gravel/cyclocross bike. A mountain bike would be equally suitable.

2. BOAT OF GARTEN
All day we are offering free pump track skills sessions at the amazing Woodlands Wheels Boat of Garten Pump, specifically aimed at kids, please bring your own bike and helmet.

Beginners : 9am (8 spaces)

Intermediate : 10am (8 spaces)

Beginners : 11am (8 spaces)

3. ROTHIEMURCHUS
PRE REGISTER In Your Element are offering free bike hire at their base in Rothiemurchas the perfect location to venture out onto the near endless forest trails. Bikes are available in 3 kids sizes & 4 adult sizes Jump on the new Adventure Bus operated by Stagecoach at the railway station opposite Macdonald Resort Entrance or just arrive at In Your Element. The Stagecoach adventure bus will be operating all day and ideal for you to jump on the bus with your bike right out to Glenmore then ride around Loch Morlich & follow the Old Logging way back to Aviemore out to from Aviemore & cycle return with along Loggers way along a marked treasure trail

4. CARRBRIDGE
Mountain Bike Guide will be on hand at the Carrbridge Dirt Jump Track to give skills tips. Late morning there will be an marshalled all off road ride into “the Hub” via Boat Of Garten from Carrbridge. Then a separate marshalled return ride in the afternoon from Boat of Garten to Carrbridge

Want to get one or two wheels off the ground? Or keep up with the kids on the pumptrack? Come along for a short intro session at the Carrbridge Bikepark. This small, community-built project has some beginner-friendly jumps and pumps to get your heart going and off-road skills improving. This is also a great opportunity to begin to take your off-road bike-handling to the next level. Top tips and friendly advice included!

(You will need: mountain bike in good working order, helmet, recommended long sleeves and knee coverings)
